Located in Columbia, Missouri, I am committed to a philosophy of family centered birth. Through knowledge and understanding, mothers can make healthy choices for their babies and enter into the childbirth process with confidence. With the help of a supportive community, attentive birth partner, and a doula, birthing mothers can achieve the best possible outcome for themselves and their babies

WHAT IS A DOULA?

A doula is a woman who helps mothers give birth safely, happily, and with as little intervention as possible.

During pregnancy and labor a doula educates and bonds with epectant parents.

When labor begins, a doula provides support and reassurance to parents, helps parents to make informed decisions and get respect for their wishes, and helps birthing mothers cope with work of childbirth using knowledge and tools.

After birth, a doula helps mothers establish breastfeeding and adjust to newborn babies' needs.

Why a Doula?

Today in America, over 1/3 of all babies are born by cesarean section. Statistics show that having a doula present reduces the rate of cesarean by up to 50%.

In some studies, the need for pain relief during labor went down over 50% when a doula was present

The need to use oxytocin as a labor stimulant was decreased by almost 1/2.

Many sources show that natural childbirth is the safest thing for mother and baby. Hiring a doula gives you the greatest chances of learning why firsthand.

Breastfeeding is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your newborn baby. Having a doula at your birth who supports and helps establish breastfeeding greatly increases your chances of success.
